Let’s make this as clear as possible: Democrats in Congress should not work with Donald Trump to advance a single piece of his legislative agenda.
Not on immigration. Not on crypto. Not on TikTok bans, tax cuts or bipartisan brunch meetups. They shouldn’t help him and his MAGA allies confirm a single judge or rename a goddamn post office.
Nothing.
I don’t know how many times people like me need to say it, but Trump is not Mitt Romney or John McCain. There is no honest debate to be had about healthcare or government spending.
This president is a malignant narcissist, an unrepentant criminal and a walking constitutional crisis. Anyone still entertaining the idea of “reaching across the aisle” to this man is either hopelessly naïve or auditioning for a Fox News contributor slot.
Let’s stop pretending the man who tried to overthrow democracy is just another president you can cut a deal with. This is a man who has repeatedly abused power, incited violence and flouted the law — and he’s gotten away with it.
So no, Democrats should not be helping him build his legacy. They should be focused on stopping him from torching what’s left of ours.
Let’s talk about the flawed strategies — and Democratic leaders — already playing into Trump’s hands.
